This is the latest coverage from Canada’s Globe and Mail:
— Michael Zehaf-Bibeau
32 years old
— Father is a Quebec businessman who appears to have fought in 2011 in Libya
— Mother is deputy chair of a division of Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Board
— Zehaf-Bibeau intended to travel to Libya and study Islam, but was unable to secure valid travel documents from federal officials

Then, this morning’s editorial:
“We kind of like Canada the way it is. We suspect that you do too. … Canada is a place where the vast majority of public figures and even ministers of the Crown move about like normal citizens. Unlike the neighbors to the south, most of our government officials are not surrounded by phalanxes of armed guards. They are not riding in motorcades of black SUVs. They don’t usually have any police accompaniment at all, and they haven’t needed it.”
