I wish she didn’t use a speaker phone. I couldn’t hear most of it. I’ll pick up her book.

Some very good comments here John.
I’ve suggested before an interview with Nora Gedgaudas who’s book
“Primal Fat Burner” a sequel to “Primal Body Primal Mind” has a
different take on the sugar as fuel thing.
Yes, most bodies today run on glucose but our brains are 80% fat, half
of which is saturated fat (not frigerated) containing 25% of the body’s
    cholestrol.
Only human brains are capable of utilizing keytones, the preferred fuel
for our brains, hence the ketogenic diet.
Once in ketosis, the pounds fall off and the brain becomes more energized.
According to Nora what seperated us from the other primates is that
we put down the bamboo and picked up the bones (and cracked them
    open ).
Be interesting to see the comments section after an interview with her.

I got off the sugar roller coaster back in the mid-70s when I read Robert Atkins’ DIET REVOLUTION. Dr. Atkins changed my life. I lost weight for the first time in my life, my blood numbers did everything he promised, and I never felt better. That was while being constantly bombarded with everyone telling me that I was killing myself by eliminating sugar from my diet. My response was always the same ~ how could I be killing myself when I had more energy than I knew what to do with and felt like a million bucks? To this day every time I put HEAVY WHIPPING CREAM into my morning coffee I think about how that one book changed my life.

There have been others through the years with ideas similar to Atkins’, but from a cardiologist’s perspective, Atkins’ data should have been the hallmark. He fought to get the truth out despite being demonized as a kook by big pharma, big sugar, and the big food industry’s propaganda. Today, more than ever, it is obvious that Dr. Atkins was right all along.

Despite his prominence in the field of nutrition, very few in the field cite Atkins’ huge body of work and generally avoid speaking about him altogether. I wish today’s gurus would give him his due. It’s long overdue.

Nice lady with generally good nutritional advice. However her breakfast suggestion of fruit and yoghurt is potentially very high in sugar, simple carbs, and has low nutritent density. This could cause a huge insulin spike followed by a crash which will drive hunger. The high fructose load could also contribute to fatty liver disease.

Many opt instead for either a high protein breakfast or else simply fast until lunch. A 16 hr intermittent fast has a beneficial healing effect.

I live by the blood type diet in the book, “Eat Right for Your Type” by Dr. Peter D’Adamo. I give it away to my friends. I cannot eat chicken without having my blood cells clot up like clumps of grapes. Type “A” and Type “O” is ok with chicken. The blood type diet works really good for me.
Pascale was a good guest. She thinks that the world is overpopulated though. The world is overpopulated with poor quality people. We need more high quality people like her.

Haha, I like your comment. And I also should look into the blood type diet. But first I’ll have to see what blood type I am.

Caravan staff – on the new site, have you considered setting a max length for comments? People need to quit copying and pasting their personal diatribe in the comments section. If it’s that awesome, put it on your own blog and link to it rather than making the comments unreadable.

    • David Westerhold August 23, 2017 at 9:37 pm #

I tend to agree with your suggestion. Linking to another place with the extended comment would be more considerate. I must say though, that Roland’s comments are usually worth reading, even if not particularly relevant to the current show’s guest. I was educated about the German/Soviet battle on this date in 1943 by reading his comment.

Some people are simply long-winded and when you see the length of their text, you know to skip over it if you are not interested. I don’t think it is the responsibility of the C2M staff to pass judgment on their members. I have found that increasingly in this present-day, I have to hit the “Ignore Button” far more often than I used to. I’m aware that free advice is worth what it costs (thank you, Benjamin) but you might want to do the same.

Hello Katherine – Please note that “caravantomidnight1” is a subscriber and not part of the CTM staff. Thanks JBW

JB: You misread (or I “mis-wrote”) my statement. I was endeavoring to point out to “caravantomidnightl” that it they ought not to expect you to censor your members’ comments. Sorry for the confusion but I meant to get the point across that you are quite correct in allowing your members to have their say — regardless of how long their statement may be.

    • Michelle August 24, 2017 at 2:40 am #

Personally I don’t mind at all if someone writes a long post. Ill read it. I’ve never understood why posts can’t be more like a conversation. Lord knows conversation is a the point a near dry well these days. We should appreciate the fact that someone feels the need to share their thoughts. As far as I can tell it is another way to shut people up when a person doesn’t understand what someone is talking about or doesn’t agreed.

Right on Katherine, agreed, well put.

The guest speaker is right on track. It’s all about the insulin response to food. We follow the Ketogenic diet, intermittent fast, and I just finished a seven day fast for autophagy. Dr. Jason Fung, the author of The Obesity Code, is a kidney specialist who has outstanding success getting his patients off diabetes medicine and reversing type 2 diabetes. I have lost 40 pounds in 3 months and 4 sizes. You lose inches as well as pounds. My husband was diagnosed with type 2 in January with his A1C 9.5. Following this plan he’s lost 25 pounds and his A1C is now 5.7, almost prediabetic. All accomplished in three months. We all should be outraged with what has been done to us, and our children with processed food, sugar (in everything) microwaves destroying the nutrition in our food, the chemicals in our food. It just goes on and on. Diabetes is big money for big pharma. It in fact is a dietary disease that can be treated with diet successfully but most people are too lazy or uninformed and just want to take a pill. Please have Dr. Jason Fung on your show as a guest speaker. His website is intensivedietarymanagement.com. Blessings.

Genesis 3.15 “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” Satan’s evil workers are attacking the true Christians, i.e. Israel along with those other peoples grafted into Israel via salvation. As we approach closer to the end time expect Satan to ratchet up his attack on all that is good and right in the eyes of the Lord.

    An Historic Counteroffensive

    by Nick McAvelly copyright reserved

Germany invaded Poland on 1st September, 1939. The Wehrmacht attacked from Germany in the west, East Prussia in the north and Slovakia in the south. The Polish forces were unable to defend their country on multiple fronts, and the Wehrmacht overran the country in a matter of weeks.[1] The notes of a meeting held at the Nazi complex at Obersalzberg on 22nd August 1939,[2] which were subsequently retrieved from the OKW (Oberkommando der Wehrmacht) archives and presented as evidence at the Nuremberg trials,[3] show that Hitler told his military commanders more than a week before the invasion: “Destruction of Poland in the foreground. The aim is destruction of living forces, not the arrival at a certain line. Even if war should break out in the West, the destruction of Poland shall be the primary objective.” Hitler let everyone know what was expected of them: “Have no pity. Brutal attitude. 80 million people shall get what is their right. Their existence has to be secured. The strongest has the Right. Greatest severity.”[4]

The Wehrmacht was not the only Nazi organisation operating in Poland in late 1939. Heinrich Himmler, the head of the SS (Schutzstaffeln), had been appointed Chief of the German Police in June 1936. Himmler had reorganised the German police force, so that it was divided into two sections, the Orpo (Ordnungspolizei) and the Sipo (Sicherheitspolizei). The Sipo was composed of two further components, the Kripo (Kriminalpolizei) and the Gestapo (Geheime Staatspolizei). Reinhard Heydrich, who was already in command of the SD (Sicherheitsdienst), was given command of the Sipo as well.[5]

In May 1939, Heinrich Himmler tasked Heydrich with setting up special units called Einsatzgruppen.[6] These units were to work with the German military to secure the areas between the German border and the military front lines. Heydrich could select candidates for the Einsatzgruppen not just from the SD and the SS, but also from the Kripo and the Gestapo.[7]

According to the historian Alexander Rossino, a meeting took place on 18th August 1939 which was attended by Heydrich and several of his Einsatzgruppen men, including SS-Brigadeführer Dr. Lothar Beutel of Einsatzgruppe IV and his aide Dr. Ernst Gerke.[8] At this meeting, Heydrich spoke about atrocities that were allegedly being perpetrated against ethnic Germans in Poland, then explained that the Einsatzgruppen would be responsible for dealing with anyone who committed such crimes against Poland’s ethnic German population, as well as partisans and saboteurs. As to the measures to be taken against these people, who at that time were still citizens of another country, Heydrich allegedly stated that “everything was allowed, including shootings and arrests”.[9]

The German forces behaved with extraordinary brutality towards native Poles right from the beginning of the war. The British historian Richard Evans, in the final part of his trilogy on the Third Reich, provides a translation of a German soldier’s account of the invasion of Poland. The soldier asserts that his unit set fire to individual houses, and sometimes entire villages, as a matter of course.[10] In his authoritative history of World War II, Martin Gilbert describes an incident that occurred on 6th September near the town of Mrocza, in which Polish officers were shot after they had surrendered, and enlisted prisoners-of-war were locked inside a wooden hut and burned to death.[11] Alexander Rossino, in his account of the Polish campaign, describes an incident that took place near Ciepelów on 9th September 1939. A Colonel in the 15th Motorized Infantry Regiment, who was angry because he had lost 14 men in a firefight, ordered his soldiers to strip approximately 300 prisoners of war of their uniforms so they looked like partisans. The POWs were then machine gunned to death and left in a ditch at the side of the road.[12]

When the invasion began, Einsatzgruppe IV was assigned to support the Fourth Army in the so-called Polish corridor between north-east Germany and East Prussia.[13] Within days, Beutel’s men were fighting in the city of Bydgoszcz alongside the regular military forces. The Polish militia in the city surrendered on 5th September, but German troops continued to be attacked by armed locals.[14] When Hitler learned that armed Polish citizens were resisting German rule, Einsatzgruppe IV was ordered to carry out a reprisal action.[15]

On 10th September 1939, Einsatzgruppe IV pacified the Schwedenhöhe district of Bydgoszcz. The operation was led by SS-Sturmbannführer Helmut Bischoff,[16] a murderous individual described by Walter Hammer, the leader of Einsatzkommando 2/IV, as “an unusually brutal man”.[17] The Einsatzgruppe entered the residents’ houses, and after shooting between 50 and 60 people where they stood, rounded up approximately 900 prisoners.[18] Anyone who was suspected of harming ethnic Germans following the Nazi invasion on 1st September, or whose name was found on the Sonderfahndungsbuch, a wanted persons list distributed to Einsatzgruppen personnel, was separated from the other prisoners. Dr. Beutel and SS-Sturmbannführer Hammer conferred with the military commander in charge of security, Major General Walter Braemer, to decide what should be done with them. Beutel and Braemer agreed that the prisoners should be liquidated.[19] Over the next two days, Hammer and his men took approximately 120 people into the forest beside Bydgoszcz, and shot them beside an anti-tank ditch.[20]

On October 7th 1939, Himmler was appointed Reich Commissioner for the Strengthening of German Nationality.[21] At the Nuremberg Trials, Himmler was quoted as saying that the purpose of establishing the SS was “to create an order which will spread the idea of Nordic blood so far that we will attract all Nordic blood in the world, take away the blood from our adversaries, absorb it so that never again — looking at it from the viewpoint of the grand Policy — will Nordic Germanic blood in great quantities and to an extent worth mentioning fight against us. We must get it and the others cannot have it.”[22]

Himmler was now responsible for “eliminating the harmful influence of those alien sections of the population which constitute a danger to the Reich and German national community” and for “repatriating persons of Germanic race or nationality resident abroad who are considered suitable for permanent return to the Reich”.[23] Under the terms of the Nazi-Soviet Pact, ethnic Germans from the Baltic States could move into the new German districts in occupied Polish territory. These potential carriers of Nordic blood needed Lebensraum, so Poles and Jews had to be put somewhere else.

The territory Germany had taken was divided into new districts. The Reichsgau of Danzig-West Prussia was created in what was the Polish corridor. The Reichsgau of Posen was south of Danzig-West Prussia, reaching east to just beyond the city of Lódź. These two districts were formally incorporated into the Reich on 26th October 1939.[24] The remainder of Nazi-occupied territory, from Warsaw in the north to the river Bug in the east,[25] was known as the General Government.[26]

The Nazis used the General Government as a reservoir for undesirable blood. Tens of thousands of people were dispossessed and transported there during the winter of 1939-1940. Many died in freezing railway carriages that were left to stand on side tracks, sometimes for days at a time.[27] This was not something that would have troubled Himmler, who in Posen on 4th October 1943 told his SS men, “We must be honest, decent, loyal and comradely to members of our own blood and to nobody else. What happens to a Russian, to a Czech, does not interest me in the slightest. […] Whether nations live in prosperity or starve to death interests me only in so far as we need them as slaves for our culture; otherwise, it is of no interest to me.”[28]

It could be argued that the National Socialists descended farther into evil as the war progressed, but the facts show that the Nazis had evil intentions towards the Polish people from the beginning. It is possible for any political power structure, regardless of how many countries it has control over, to be taken over by criminal individuals. If there is no way to peacefully remove them, then the world can go down a very dark path. Throughout history, false prophets have arisen who have claimed to have the “final solution” to the question of how human beings are to live together here on earth. Time and again, we have seen what these individuals and their followers are capable of, as they strive to turn their poisonous fantasies into reality.

If you hand over control of your own country to a foreign entity, then it will always be possible for another criminal gang like the National Socialist German Workers Party to rise to power. If that happens, then you, or your children, or perhaps your grandchildren, will be where the Polish people were in September 1939. For this reason alone, any effort on the part of professional “politicians” to create a European super-state should be resisted.

Poland is getting set to demand reparations from Germany for the crimes committed during the war. Jarosław Kaczyński, the leader of the Law and Justice Party (PiS), has stated that Poland is currently preparing an “historic counteroffensive.”[29] Kaczyński’s use of military terminology serves as a reminder of the context of the proposed claim. However, the Poles are not simply reminding everyone of what happened to their country during the war, they are making a profound statement which ought to resonate with everyone who truly values their own freedom: We know what can happen when you lose control of your own political destiny. And we will not let it happen again!

      Dear Caravaners:

PRESIDENT PUTIN HAS STATED CLEARLY “RUSSIA WILL NOT FIGHT ANOTHER WAR ON HER OWN SOIL”

In all of WW2 Russia lost 10 to 12 soldiers for every NAZI soldier lost. That DOES NOT INCLUDE the RUSSIAN CIVILIAN LOSS.

IN THIS BATTLE, DESCRIBED BELOW, 1.36 MILLION SOLDIERS WERE LOST FROM BOTH SIDES ONLY 74 YEARS AGO

Russia celebrates day of Nazis’ defeat in world’s biggest-ever armor operation

On August 23, 1943, Soviet forces liberated the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kharkov marking an end to the battle that began on the most decisive elements of victory in World War II

MOSCOW, August 23. 2017 /TASS/. August 23 marks 74 years since the day on which the Red Army defeated Nazi forces in what was destined to become the largest armor battle ever fought in human history – the Battle of the Kursk Salient.

President Boris Yeltsin signed a decree on March 13, 1995 adding August 23 to the list of days of Russia’s military glory and commemorative dates.

On Monday, August 23, 1943, Soviet forces liberated the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kharkov marking an end to the battle that began on the most decisive elements of victory in World War II.

It started on July 5, 1943, and lasted 51 days, encompassing three phases – the Kursk defense operation (through to July 23), the Oryol offensive operation (from July 12 through to August 18) and the Belgorod/Kharkov offensive operation (from August 3 through to August 23).

A westwards-extending curve, which military historians would term later as the Salient of Kursk, some 150 km deep and 200 km wide, took shape during the winter offensive of the Red Army and the subsequent counter-offensive by the Wehrmacht. It was there that the German command decided to conduct a strategic breakthrough effort.

For the purpose, it designed an operation codenamed Zitadelle (Citadel) in April 1943.

To make the operation efficacious, the German command brought in the most combat-seasoned units – fifty divisions in all. Of that number, there were 16 armor and mechanized divisions and a big number of separate units incorporated in the Ninth and Second Field Armies of Heergruppe Mitte (Army Group Center) and in the Fourth Tank Army and Kempf operation group of Heergrupper Sud (Army Group South).

The overall grouping concentrated at the bulge of Kursk had more than 900,000 men and officers, about 10,000 artillery guns and mortars, 2,245 tanks, and 1,781 warplanes.

On the Soviet side of the frontline, there were more than 1,900 men and officers fighting in the units of the Central, Voronezh and Steppe Fronts, more than 26,000 artillery guns and mortars, more than 4,900 tanks and self-propelled artillery mounts, and about 2,900 warplanes.

The Soviet central staff also concentrated the cream of the commanding military elite on the Kursk Salient – marshals Georgy Zhukov and Alexander Vassilevsky, Army General Konstantin Rokossovsky, Army General Nikolai Vatutin, and Colonel-General Ivan Konev.

On July 5, 1943, the strike groups of the Wehrmacht began an offensive on the city of Kursk, the administrative center of a big region of the same name, from the positions near Oryol and Belgorod. The offensive and the efforts to contain it came to a climax on a vast field near the township of Prokhorovka on July 12, which brought together as many as 1,200 tanks and sell-propelled artillery mounts on both sides.
Hitlerite troops lost up to 400 tanks and assault weapons in the Battle of Prokhorovka that remains unsurpassed to this day as a combat clash of armor forces in terms both size and scope.

The Red Army launched an offensive on its side on July 12 and the Wehrmacht had to begin a pullback of its forces on July 16. The cities of Oryol, halfway between Moscow and Kursk, and Belgorod, halfway between Kursk and Kharkov, were liberated on August 5. The Soviet authorities marked the occasion by a major firework in Moscow, the first one since the beginning of World War II.

Soviet troops took Kharkov on August 23 and ascertained a highly favorable position for themselves for a further general liberation of the regions of Ukraine along the left-hand bank of the river Dnieper.

All in all, the Battle of the Kursk Salient evidenced the combat engagement of over 4 million men and officers, more than 70,000 artillery weapons and mortars, more than 13,000 tanks and self-propelled units, and about 12,000 warplanes.

The Red Army defeated 30 German divisions, including seven tank divisions. The Wehrmacht lost more than 500,000 men and officers in killed, missing or taken prisoner by Soviet forces.

Very engaging and enjoyable guest. However, every American suffering from any form of heart disease or diabetes should immediately do two things. 1) Read the book “How to Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease” written by Dr. Caldwell B. Esselstyn. 2) watch two free documentaries found on Netflix – Forks over Knives & What the Health. In just over 3 months on a whole food plant-based diet, I have reversed my adult onset diabetes and now have a normal A1C with no drugs at the age of 52. I have lost nearly 30 pounds, dropped 2 pant sizes, reduced my overall cholesterol by 39%, reduced my triglyceride levels by 160 points, have normalized my c-reactive protein levels (a marker for inflammation), and have had most, if not all of my chest discomfort symptoms completely go away. Did I mention that I travel every week out of town? Yes, I do this traveling as I have figured out how to make this happen without eating in restaurants. I am out to prove all of this research wrong, but have not been very successful in doing so. I am motivated more than ever and feel fantastic! Thank you Jon B for bringing a healthy lifestyle to the forefront with all of the Caravaners!!

Phil – thanks for that informative comment! You do not eat out while traveling? And you are able to sustain this change in eating habits? A whole food plant based diet is what exactly? Whole natural unprocessed fruits and vegetables I presume, as the guest on the show suggested. And do you eat breads, grains, or pasta? What about meat? I did a modified version of a diet with no bread, pasta, potatoes, or sugar, and lots of veggies and meat, and even dairy. It worked for me and I did lose some of my belly fat. But then this spring I reverted back to my old eating habits, and have gained it back. You give me reason to try again.

David – The book and documentary Forks Over Knives explains everything. Forks Over Knives has a dedicated website, just search it on the internet. Basically, the diet is eat nothing that has a mother or a face…no meat, no dairy, no fish, no oil of any kind, I have chosen to eliminate all nuts, avocado, and of course all sugar. I shop at the store as soon as I arrive at my destination. I use a Plan A, Plan B, Plan C approach. Plan A is shopping at a major healthy chain and staying at a hotel with a kitchenette. I have certain brands that I buy that work and supplement with fresh veggies and whole grains…nothing refined, ever. I do eat whole grain pasta and sprouted grain breads. Plan B is when I only have a microwave and a fridge in the hotel. Plan C is last resort and that is a restaurant but have not had to resort to Plan C. I am so sick of restaurants that I make Plan A and Plan B work for me. I sleep like a baby, wake-up before the alarm, and feel great. I do not crave the old food much anymore. I have nothing to gain, but you should really watch the documentary and read the book…it is under $12 on the internet, the best $12 I have ever spent. I eat sweet potatoes on occasion and even plain potatoes in a pinch. No portion control, no calorie counting, just eat until I’m satisfied. If I need to binge, I just binge on something healthy. I hope this helps!! I need to write a book on how to do this on the road or start a website. I don’t think I will ever return to my old ways, I love my wife and family too much to put them through the heartache of seeing their husband and dad slowly die like my father did after 3 open heart surgeries and then dying from liver cancer because the drugs killed his liver. This is my motivation and everytime I get tempted, I just think of my wife, kids, and what my dad went through. God bless you on your journey David.

David, I missed the part where you said I gave you reason to try again. Wow, this is exactly my motivation, to give hope to people like you that have given up like I have done so many times in the past. I pray that you will find your fighting spirit to try it again. Take care and just start it again my friend!

Phil – Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful response. I was surprised to see an answer. As John B says, we here are family, and that’s how I feel. I will take your advice and get the book and watch the documentary when I can. So many middle-aged men have just let life get the best of them, and many know they make poor choices, but they are the “easy” choices. My father also had heart and kidney disease, and died at age 79 after a botched and unnecessary colonoscopy. I have been more fortunate, only obtaining a “pot belly” in recent years, but knowing that my overall health and energy levels, and quality of life, would improve significantly with consistently wiser food choices. I am alone, so I will have to find the will to do this for myself. One thing I was surprised that you said – no oils or nuts. I have been under the impression that the good oils like olive oil, and nuts and avocados are good for us. But thanks again for your encouragement! I’m so glad to also know that you must be a “red-pilled” guy also, since you are a member of CTM! Bless you and your family.

As far as youtube goes, I say ride that gift horse into the ground until he breaks. Look him in the mouth all you want, don’t be concerned about parrot overbite. A better mount is probably already on the way..

John, you mentioned the Michigan smart meter story. Here in Illinois, I refused to allow the electric company, Ameren Illinois, to install a smart meter on my house about a year and a half ago. They said I had a choice. Some choice. I am charged a fee of $20 EACH month, apparently so the meter reader can come and read the meter, which had been the practice for decades! $20 is 2.5 percent of my fixed retirement income!

Seriously, something is wrong. I cannot download the mp3 files, using two different browsers, and computers.
