Catalan police have linked a house explosion from this morning, in which there was one fatality, to Thursday’s Barcelona attacks.

The incident was connected to the devastating terrorist attack in Barcelona’s Las Ramblas, which killed at least 13 people and injured more than 100 others, an official from Catalan Police said.

According to reports, the explosion was in the village of Alcanar in southern Catalonia.

It was a squattered house, and after the explosion firefighters found some 20 gas cylinders inside.

Several other houses were affected by the blast, which was put down to a gas leak.

Two men have been arrested in the wake of the devastating terror attack on Barcelona’s busy Las Ramblas street, while another two have been reportedly shot dead by police officers during an exchange of gunfire.

Delivering a press conference, a Catalan government official confirmed that more than 100 people had been injured, with 15 of them in a serious condition.

The official added that the death toll, although still confirmed to be 13, is likely to rise.

World leaders paid tribute to the victims of the attack, with Theresa May, Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron all offering their solidarity with Spain.

The UK, US and France have all recently been victims of van-led terror attacks.
